吴老一生堪称传奇，在中国医学史上留下难以被超越的贡献。他带领团队完成了我国第一例肝脏外科手术，为新中国开创肝胆外科奠定了基�。刮夜伟┦质醭晒β蚀硬坏�50%提高到90%以上，被誉为“中国肝胆外科之父”。
Mr. Wu was a legend in his own life, as he left an unsurmountable contribution in the history of Chinese medicine. He led his team to complete the first liver surgery in China, which laid the foundation for the creation of hepatobiliary surgery in China, and raised the success rate of liver cancer surgery in China from less than 50% to more than 90%. He was honored as the “Father of Hepatobiliary Surgery in China”.
吴孟超1922年出生于福建省闽清县，家境贫寒，5岁时和弟弟一起跟着妈妈到马来西亚投奔父亲，七八岁开始跟着父母到橡胶园割胶、卖米粉、做苦力。15岁时进入一所华侨学校半工半读。1940年，吴孟超和同学一起抱着到延安参加抗日的理想回到祖国，但因为困难重重，最终留在昆明，1943年吴孟超考取同济大学医学院，从此走上医学道路。
Wu Mengchao was born in 1922 at a very poor family in Minqing County, Fujian Province. At the age of 5, he and his brother went to Malaysia followed his mother to lean upon his father. After 7 years old, he began to follow his parents to the rubber garden to cut rubber, sell rice flour and do coolies. Then, he went to an overseas Chinese school to work part time when he was 15. In 1940, Wu Mengchao and his classmates came back to China with the idea of taking part in the Anti-Japanese War in Yan 'an. However, he finally stayed in Kunming because of various difficulties. In 1943, Wu Mengchao was admitted to the Medical School of Tongji University and started his medical career.
吴孟超院士爱做手术这个话题，已经说了很多年。从医70多年，一直到96岁时他还对上手术台乐此不疲。“一周两三台手术，照常查房开会。”官方统计数据，长达75年的从医生涯里，他拯救了超过16000名患者的生命。
The topic that academician Wu Mengchao loves to do surgery has been talked about for many years. Though he had been a doctor for more than 70 years, he was still happy to be on the operating table even at the age of 96. “He always has two or three operations and still makes his rounds of the wards and has meetings as usual in every week.” Officially, he saved the lives of more than 16,000 patients during his 75-year medical career.
96岁时，吴老完成手术后还要逐一和护士核对纱布、剪刀、钳子的数量，再走到监护仪前看一下各个指标数据，之后才放心离开手术室。护士长程月娥和吴孟超搭档30多年。她说：“一次手术后，吴老靠在休息室的椅子上，胸前的手术衣都湿透了，两只胳膊支在扶手上，轻轻地叹气道：“如果哪一天我真在手术室倒下了，记得给我擦干净，不要让别人看到我一脸汗水的样子。”
At the age of 96, Wu still checked the number of gauze, scissors and forceps one by one with the nurse after operation, and then went to the monitor to see the indicators of the data. After completing the steps described above, he could be relieved to leave the operating room. The head nurse Cheng Yue’e and Wu Mengchao had worked together for more than 30 years. She said, “Once after an operation, Wu leaned back on a chair in the lounge with wet operating coat. He rested his arms on the armrests and sighed softly, "If one day I do fall down in the operating room, remember to clean it up for me so that others cannot see my face with sweat.”
